Murray R. Berkowitz, DO, MA, MS, MPH
Assistant Professor, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
Dr. Berkowitz earned Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Columbia University, and received his engineering degree at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He also did advanced studies and research at the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics at Oxford University (United Kingdom), the University of Texas at Arlington, and George Mason University.
He received his D.O. degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery at what is now the Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center. He completed a residency in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health. His Graduate Medical Education was at Walter Reed Army Medical Center; the Navy Clinic, United States Naval Academy; Johns Hopkins; and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. He earned the Master of Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins University. He is also Board Certified in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and is a graduate of the 2004-2005 American Osteopathic Association Health Policy Fellowship.
Dr. Berkowitz came to Georgia Campus PCOM from private osteopathic medicine practice in Arlington, Va. and Annapolis, Md. He has also done significant work in the public health field.
He has lectured and published extensively with over 60 manuscripts, papers and presentations. He has actively consulted in the areas of Bioinformatics and Medical Informatics, as well as the design of Computer Systems Architectures and Database Systems. He has earned numerous military awards and decorations in his career from both the US Army and US Air Force.
Dr. Berkowitz is married with one daughter and two sons.
