Ruth Carter Borghaei, PhD

  
Dr. Ruth Carter Borghaei is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She is Director of the Molecular Basis of Medicine course in the Biomedical Sciences postgraduate program and also teaches molecular biology to DO students in the Cellular and Molecular Basis of Medicine course. Dr. Borghaei's research is in the field of gene regulation. She has been awarded NIH funding to study the transcriptional regulation of matrix metalloproteinase-3 gene expression in response to inflammatory cytokines.
 
Dr. Borghaei completed postdoctoral studies at the Institute for Cancer Research of the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. She is a member of the PCOM chapter of Sigma Xi and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Borghaei received her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Temple University in 1992.
