Dr. Mauer is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck
Surgery. He specializes in Otorhinolaryngology and Allergy. He is former Director
of the Residency Program in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology (May 1977-June 2003).
Dr. Mauer is a past president of the Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology & Otorhinolaryngology
- Head & Neck Surgery (1990-1991) and the Philadelphia Laryngological Society (1991-1992).
Dr. Mauer also served as Chairman of the Professional Staff at the Osteopathic Medical
Center of Philadelphia (June 1987-May 1989).
Presently Dr. Mauer is a staff physician and consultant in Otolaryngology and Allergy
in Lankenau Hospital and Roxborough Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Mauer is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic
College of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology
- Head & Neck Surgery, the Philadelphia Society of Facial Plastic Surgery, and the
Philadelphia Laryngological Society. He is also a member of the College of Physicians
of Philadelphia - Section on Otolaryngology.
Dr. Mauer has been honored with the Institute for Applied Laser Surgery Award, the
Iota Tau Sigma Clinical Professor of the Year Award (1969), the Award for Service
as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Professional Staff for a decade of service
at PCOM (1980-1990), and the Distinguished Service Award presented by the American
Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery (1998).
Dr. Mauer received his D.O. from PCOM in 1962 and his Master of Science in Otology
in 1967 upon completion of residency.
3rd and 4th year Osteopathic Medical Students participate in patient care during 2-4
weeks ENT rotations in Dr. Mauer's office.
