Dr. Kenneth Veit is the current Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was initially appointed to PCOM's faculty in 1977 and has served as Interim Dean, Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education, Director of Medical Education and Chairman of the Division of Community Medicine / Director of PCOM's Health Care Centers. In those capacities he supervised inpatient and outpatient clinical care, participated in 60,000-plus patient encounters, and was responsible for the administration of a post-graduate medical education program including approximately 80 interns and 150 residents.
Prior to his posts at PCOM, Dr. Veit was Chief of the Clinical Consultation Branch of the United States Public Health Service from 1980 to 1981 and Medical Coordinator of the National Health Service Corporation, Region III (USPHS). From 1977 to 1979, he was Medical Director of the Southern Huntington Company Medical Center, a rural NHSC site. Dr. Veit has served numerous community and governmental appointments and is a member of several review boards. He has lectured in community medicine, preventive medicine, physical diagnosis and medical economics. Dr. Veit was honored with the Commissioned Officer Superior Service Award in 1979 and the USPHS Humanitarian Medal in 1981. He received his D.O. from PCOM in 1976.
