Description
The prevalence of overweight/obesity for both adults and children has increased dramatically and has now become an international public health problem. Most strikingly, this rising prevalence of obesity has lead to increases in mortality, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, coronary artery disease, cancer, stroke and many other medical complications that primary care physicians battle on a daily basis. This program will discuss the public health issues, pathophysiology, assessment of obesity, surgical and behavioral interventions, and new pharmacologic approaches with an emphasis on its clinical consequences.
