Program Objectives
The 17th Annual Family Weekend CME program is targeted to the needs of the osteopathic family physician and other primary care health providers. The first and second day will cover current primary care issues relating to: the cardio metabolic syndrome, feeding dilemmas, electronic reporting, treatment of lower respiratory tract infections, managing the chemically dependent patient, understanding gang violence, management of osteoporosis, avoiding common medical errors and dermatology. The third and fourth days will focus on: legal pitfalls in infectious diseases, Medicare updates, viral syndromes, Hepatitis B, H1N1 Influenza, infection control practices in the office, septic shock and skin infections.
Upon completion of the program, the participant should be able to:
- Identify key metabolic components associated with cardiovascular risk.
- Explain key feeding dilemmas in toddlers.
- Discuss the value of electronic office and reporting quality measures.
- Summarize key issues associated with: lower respiratory infections in children, the chemically dependent patient, diagnosis and management of osteoporosis, gang violence, medical errors, rashes, coding and billing, infectious diseases and legal pitfalls, hepatitis B, influenza, septic shock, skin diseases and challenges of osteopathic education.
Continuing Education Credit
Physicians: "The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine has requested that the AOA Council on Continuing Medical Education approve this program for twenty hours of AOA Category 1-A CME credits. Approval is currently pending." Sign-in and full day attendance of program is required for credit. All faculty participating in continuing medical education programs sponsored by PCOM are expected to disclose to the program audience whether they do or do not have any real or apparent conflict(s) of interest or other relationships related to the content of their presentation(s).
Recreation
Hershey Park discounted admission tickets will be available at the box office concierge desk and a free shuttle is provided from the hotel. The Hershey Lodge also features indoor/outdoor pools, sauna and whirlpool, fitness facility, miniature golf, game room and many other activities. Enjoy shopping at area shops, including the Factory Stores, which are one block east of Hershey Park. Registrants will receive a booklet filled with all the information needed to plan a fun-packed family weekend. Directions will also be included.
Registration
To register for CME, please complete the attached registration form and return with your payment. Weekend fee: $575.00 for physicians, $475.00 for physician assistants, which includes continental breakfasts and reception on Saturday. Registration for individual days and fees are on the registration form. Due to the anticipated large response, pre-registration is required and cannot be confirmed without tuition fees. Hotel Accommodations
A block of rooms has been reserved for registrants and their guests at the Hershey Lodge. Special Rates: $249.00 single or double. Charges for room and tax are on an individual basis. In order to receive this special rate, reservations must be made before the room block expiration date of Friday, May 21, 2010.
