PSY 903: Short-Term Counseling Interventions: The Cognitive Behavioral Model

Intended for school psychologists and counselors, the week will introduce elements of the cognitive behavioral model to provide a new perspective and counseling skills set for participants. The focus will be on short term interventions and will present the essentials of cognitive behavioral theory, strategy and techniques. An exploration of personality disorders in children and adolescents will be featured. The teaching format will be lectures, video demonstrations and case discussions. The week-long course will start with an introduction to CBT and will explore differential diagnosis, psychopathology, treatment planning, adult and childhood personality disorders, intervention strategies, and adjunctive treatment.
