Staff Spotlight

Etheldra Templeton - Executive Director, Library & Educational Information Systems

Etheldra Templeton has been the Executive Director at PCOM's library for 15 years, and the impact she has made is a huge one. In today's world, going digital is a key to keeping up with change. Of all her accomplishments in the library, perhaps the most important is the transition from print to digital. When she started, the library did not have a website. Today, along with being online and on Facebook, the library has launched a mobile site, (http://libguides.pcom.edu/mobile/2068), which students can access wherever they are. The Alumni Portal and the Digital Commons are also valuable web resources. Through the Alumni Portal, (http://libguides.pcom.edu/alumni_portal), alumni can access DynaMed, a leading clinical evidence resource, and the Digital Commons. The Digital Commons, (http://digitalcommons.pcom.edu/), is an electronic archive that houses "published and unpublished work by faculty and students" as well as copies of PCOM's histories, yearbooks, and photos from College events.

Etheldra was drawn to PCOM when, after consulting for the College, she heard about the open position for Library Director. She inquired about the job purely out of curiosity, but knew that PCOM was where she wanted to work after speaking with PCOM Administration including Kenneth Veit, DO '76, MBA, Richard Kriebel, PhD, and Robert Cuzzolino, EdD. It was ultimately their enthusiasm and openness that inspired her to seek the position.

Etheldra holds a Bachelor's Degree from Manhattanville College in New York, and a Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Chicago. Before coming to PCOM, she worked at the Chicago Center for Research Libraries and the libraries of the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University.

Her love of libraries does not end once she leaves work. She serves on the Public Library Board at her local library, Ludington Library in Bryn Mawr, PA, as well as on the Board of the Tri-State College Library Cooperative. She also enjoys cooking, traveling, and gardening, and is active in the Delaware Valley Fern and Wildflower Society.
