Berel B. Arrow, DO, Lancaster, PA, had his first fiction book published titled "God’s Water."

Seymour S. Kilstein, DO, Athens, OH, joined the medical staff at Holzer Clinic, Athens Campus.

1968

Ronald E. Ayres, DO, Stratford, NJ, co-authored an article published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association titled "Osteopathic Specialty board certification."

Paul E. Wallner, DO, Moorestown, NJ, was appointed Asssociate Executive Director for radiation oncology at the American Board of Radiology.

John Yardumian, DO, New Hope, PA, was appointed co-medical director of senior behavioral health at Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center and St. Joseph Manor in Meadowbrook.

1972

Charles P. Fasano, DO, Mifflinburg, PA, was honored posthumously with the "2009 Family Physician of the Year Award" from the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society.  This award was given in recognition of Dr. Fasano’s outstanding service to the osteopathic profession and his community.

Richard M. Purse, DO, Yardley, PA, was re-elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

1974

William K. Daiber, DO, Harrisburg, PA, participated in "Doctors on Call," a television program broadcast by WGAL-TV on March 4, 2009.  Doctors in the Susquehanna Valley volunteered their time to answer patient questions.

George D. Vermeire, DO, Oreland, PA, was elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

1976

Theodore S. Eisenberg, DO, Philadelphia, PA, wrote a guest editorial published in the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery titled "Silicone gel implants are back so what?" Wired 96.5 radio selected Dr. Eisenberg as its cosmetic breast surgery expert fo their "Ask the Expert" series.

William R. Henwood, DO, Sharon, PA, was elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

1979

William A. Wewer, DO, Harrisburg, PA, was re-elected secretary/treasurer of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

Anthony J. Brazen, III, DO, Hockessin, DE, and his wife, Carol celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on April 29, 2009.

Frank M. Tursi, DO, Erie, PA, was elected vice president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

Jack Waterman, DO, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, was elected chief of the medical staff at Juniper Medical Center.

1982

Robert A. Beyer, DO, Langhorne, PA, was appointed director of the emergency department at Nazareth Hospital.

Beth H. K. Mulvihill, DO, Columbus, OH, co-authored an article with her husband, Joseph M. Novi, DO '90, which was published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association titled "Combined anal sphincteroplasty and perineal reconstruction for fecal incontinence in women."

David J. Simons, DO, Lititz, PA, participated in "Doctors on Call," a television program broadcast by WGAL-TV on March 4, 2009.  Dr. Simons is a physician at Community Campus in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

1984

Marianne Krouk, DO, Fort Myers, FL, joined the medical staff at Lee Memorial Health System in Fort Meyers.

Ray Roth, DO, Elysburg, PA, was one of forty health representatives chosen by the Academy for International Health Studies to represent the United States for a medical mission to India.  The goal of this mission is to explain to representatives of foreign health systems how the United States health system operates in the areas of safety, quality and economics, and to give advice and feedback on how other health systems operate.

Paul V. Suhey, DO, Boalsburg, PA, was highlighted in an article published in the Daily Record titled "Former athlete Dr. Paul Suhey discusses serious sports-related injuries in the wake of Tyrone wrestler’s tragic accident."

Kathleen E. Sweeney, DO, Hollidaysburg, PA, was awarded the "Business Professional Award" presented by the WISE Women of Blair County.

1985

Mark Jacobson, DO, Hummelstown, PA, is President-Elect of the Albright Alumni Association.  Dr. Jacobson is medical director of Capital Blue Cross in Harrisburg.

1986

Michael J. Zawisza, DO, Orwigsburg, PA, was re-elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

1987

Richard E. Johnson, DO, Du Bois, PA, was re-elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

1988

Carman A. Ciervo, DO, Marlton, NJ, co-authored an article published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association titled "Brachial plexus injuries in neonates: An osteopathic approach."

Alexander P. Kovanko, DO, Orono, ME, has joined Penobscot Community Health Care’s medical staff at Stillwater Family Medicine in Bangor.

Mark A. Monaco, DO, Bryn Mawr, PA, was re-elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

Mark A. Nartatez, DO, Philipsburg, PA, joined Clearfield Hospital's physician group, Clear-Med Providers in Philipsburg.

Alice J. Zal, DO, Norristown, PA, is President-Elect of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.  Dr. Zal attended "DO Day on the Hill" with her husband, H. Michael Zal, DO '66 on Wednesday, March 5, 2009.

Frank Nikolaidis, DO, Massillon, OH, was appointed chairman of the department of anesthesia at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon.

Robert S. Dolansky, Jr., MBA, DO, Breinigsville, PA, was re-elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

Alton A. Trott, DO, Dover, DE, joined the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Nanticoke Health Services in Seaford.

Peter M. Sanni-Thomas, DO, Fort Worth, TX, joined the medical staff at Glenn-Garrett Clinics in Linden and Jefferson.

Benninghoff, DO, Coatesville, PA, had his Case Report published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association titled "Incidental Pleural-Based Pulmonary Lymphangioma" and a second Case Report published in the Journal of Bronchology titled "Granular Cell Tumor of Trachea.  Dr. Benninghoff joined the medical staff at Pulmonary Associates at Christian Medical Center in Newark, Delaware.

Millicent A. Channell, DO, Philadelphia, PA, had her first book titled "The 5 Minute Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Consult" published in September 2008.

William E. Sotack, Jr., DO, Schnecksville, PA, was named director of emergency medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown Campus.

2002

Louis Edwin Costa, DO, Harrisburg, PA, was featured on "Better PA," a television segment broadcast by WPMT-TV.  Dr. Costa is a physician at the Midstate Institute of Surgery in York, Pennsylvania.

Brent R. Rosen, DO, Furlong, PA, joined the department of surgery/otolaryngology/facial plastic surgery in association with Le MedSpa of Buckingham in Doylestown.

Rhesa Christine Sanni-Thomas, DO, Grand Prairie, TX, joined the medical staff at Glenn-Garrett Clinic in Jefferson.

Paul J. Ufberg, MBA, DO, Scottsdale, AZ, was appointed pediatric gastroenterologist at Banner Children’s Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona.

2004

Jonathan David Auten, DO, La Jolla, CA, married Sheli Nunes on July 4, 2009 on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Dr. Auten received a Naval Medal of Commendation for his service as a Flight Surgeon to the air wing of 5,000 sailors and pilots aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. He is in his first year of emergency surgery residency at Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego.

2006

Gregory D. Kohler, DO, Carlisle, PA, married Patricia Twaddell on April 25, 2009.  Included in the wedding party were John Stoner, DO ’06, Chris Pugh, DO ’05 and Josh Samuelson, DO ’06. Also in attendance were Jessica Widmer, DO ‘06 and Adam Davis, DO ’06. Dr. Kohler graduated from his internal medicine residency from Pinnacle Health at Community General Osteopathic Hospital. Dr. Kohler will become a hospitalist at Community General starting July 1, 2009.

2008

Jay D. Bhatt, DO, Cambridge, MA, was awarded the Zuckerman Fellowship.  This program equips people from the fields of medicine, law, and business to provide leadership for the common good by making it possible for them to pursue public service degrees at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, School for Public Health, or Kennedy School of Government. Dr. Bhatt is the first DO to do so in the last 4 years that the fellowship has existed. He will attend the Kennedy School of Government. Dr. Bhatt also received the "Distinguished Medical Student Resident and Fellowship Award" presented by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

Jessica R. Terrana, DO, Bridgeport, PA, received this year’s "POMA Golden Quill Award" for her article on "Alagille Syndrome."  Dr. Terana is an intern at Delaware County Hospital in Drexel Hill, PA.
