A. Alvin Greber, DO, Aventura, FL, a long time cardiologist at Nova Southeastern University's Health Professions Division, was honored by NOVA University in a ceremony dedicating and renaming the cardiac simulation center to the Dr. A. Alvin Greber Cardiac Simulation Center.

Bernard F. Master, DO, Worthington, OH, was appointed by the Franklin County Commissioners to the board of directors of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

Michael A. Nigro, DO, Bloomfield Hills, MI, was honored with a "Lifetime Achievement Award" presented from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. A professor emeritus, Dr. Nigro previously served the school as a professor of neurology and pediatrics.

Robert A. Weisberg, DO, Narberth, PA, was recognized and honored by the American Osteopathic Association as one of the original 113 doctors of osteopathy who paved the way for all osteopathic physicians serving as military medical officers ever since.

1967

Ronald R. Blanck, DO, Fenwick Island, DE, joined Aurora Imaging Technology, Inc.'s Advisory Board.

Nelson E. Ziets, DO, Upper Providence, PA, was honored by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization review for 25 years of dedication to the Board.

1974

David J. Rissmiller, DO, Cherry Hill, NJ, co-authored an article published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association titled "Extended - release bupropion-induced grand mal seizures."

Edward Taxin, DO, Mesa, AZ, retired from the U.S. Air Force after 25 years of service on November 30, 2007.

1976

James M. Levri, DO, Sarver, PA, was appointed chief anesthesiologist at The Surgery Center at Cranberry in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

1978

John S. Kasper, Jr., DO, Portsmouth, OH, was named director of the emergency medicine residency program at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

1980

David A. Bitonte, DO, Louisville, OH, was featured in Lifelines, a Youngstown State University publication.  The article highlighted his volunteer service with the Medical Reserve Corps unit of the Stark County Health Department.

Victor J. Scali, DO, Springfield, PA, was the recipient of the "Benjamin A. Field, DO, FACOEP Mentor of the Year Award" presented by the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians.

1981

Bernard J. Bernacki, DO, Pittsburgh, PA, is a new member of the board of trustees of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Bernacki was appointed Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside.  He has been an active member of the medical staff at UPMC Shadyside for many years.  He and his wife, Mary, have been involved and have developed community drug prevention programs.  He has been an advociate representing Family Practice interests to insurance providers and has been involved in many quality and educational programs.

1982

Frank P. Pettinelli, Jr., DO, Mount Laurel, NJ, entered into a partnership with Total Access Medical, a concierge practice.

1983

Richard J. Snow, DO, Worthington, OH, was appointed by Governor Ted Strickland to the board of directors of the Ohio Medical Quality Foundation for a three-year term.  The board evaluates and funds activities to improve the quality of medical care rendered to the public.

1984

Hal S. Bendit, DO, Emmaus, PA, was highlighted in an article published in The Morning Call titled "Medical volunteers continue their work."

Russell G. Gelormini, DO, Keesler AFB, MS, had his article titled "Improving Radiology Care, Post-Katrina" published in U.S. Medicine.

1985

Jeffrey M. Bishop, DO, Royal Palm Beach, FL, was appointed medical officer and director of medical education at Wellington Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Florida.

Jeffrey T. Kirchner, DO, Lancaster, PA, was elected to the board of directors of the Lancaster Osteopathic Health Foundation.

Gregory J. Smolin, DO, York, PA, was recognized in the October 2007 issue of the Harrisburg magazine as one of the "Extraordinary Physicians" in the Central Pennsylvania area.

1986

Frank P. Matrone, DO, Kutztown, PA, is a member of the new 100 World Record Canopy Foundation Team.  One hundred skydivers from sixteen countries linked up in a formation in Lake Wales, Florida setting a new world record on November 21, 2007.

1987

Jeffrey R. Scheirer, DO, Berlin, MD, joined the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Primary Care Network's Ocean Pines Family Medicine office with associate staff membership and clinical privileges in Ambulatory Primary Care at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.

1988

Kellie B. Smaldore, DO, Bel Air, MD, was recognized by Baltimore's Best Magazine as one of the "Top Doctors in Family Practice."

1989

Michael J. Olek, DO, Spokane, WA, joined the medical practice of Rockwood Clinic Neurology Group as a neurologist specializing in multiple sclerosis patients.

1990

Emil P. Lesho, DO, Silver Spring, MD, has been promoted to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army, and has been awarded the "A" proficiency designator.  It is the highest award that the Army Medical Department can bestow to recognize professional expertise, exceptional ability, and outstanding achievement in both clinical and academic medicine.  Dr. Lesho is currently serving in Iraq as the medical director and officer in charge of a medical unit tasked with establishing a military treatment facility for U.S. and coalition forces in one of the most remote areas of Iraq.

1991

Elizabeth A. Olek, DO, New York, NY, was appointed vice president and chief medical officer at Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Deborah L. Pierce, DO, Fort Washington, PA, has joined the emergency department at Albert Einstein Healthcare Network.

Charles W. Raudat, DO, Elmira, NY, was appointed to the consulting staff in the department of surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, New York.

1992

Suzanne Greb, DO, Lewisburg, PA, received recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for providing quality care to her patients with cardiovascular disease or who have suffered a stroke.

1993

Yamini Goswami, DO, Kayenta, AZ, opened a new micro-practice, Kiva Family Medicine in Sedona, Arizona.

William H. Jones, DO, Dallas, TX, has been appointed director of pediatric anesthesiology at the Children's Medical Center of Dallas, Legacy Campus.  This appointment also comes with being named to the faculty of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Lillian J. Theune, DO, Lafayette, NJ, joined the medical staff at Plaza Family Care in Hackettstown, Pennsylvania.

Anne B. Whalen McGinn, DO, Holland, PA, and her husband, David, are the proud parents of Colin Patrick born on August 19, 2007.  Colin joins his big sisters Bridget, age 7, Katie, age 5 and big brother, Matthew, age 2.

1995

Scott J. Boyle, DO, Sugarloaf, PA, and his wife, Sheri, are the proud parents of Erica Lee born on February 9, 2007.  Erica joins big sister, Rebecca Lynn, age 3.

Marshall E. Eidenberg, DO, Moosic, PA, joined the emergency department as emergency medical associate at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Edward Eric Horvath, DO, San Antonio, TX, and his wife Lynn, are the proud parents of Hannah Elizabeth, born on November 13, 2007.  Hannah Elizabeth joins her brothers Jack, age 4 and Sam, age 2.  Dr. Horvath completed twelve years of active duty service with the U.S. Army and now is in private practice as a general surgeon.

Salvatore P. Sparich, Jr., DO, Drums, PA, joined the medical staff at Geisinger Medical Group - Hazleton as a family physician.

1996

Eric J. Driscoll, DO, Brigantine, NJ, received the"Physician Recognition Award" from the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

1997

Russell V. Gilchrist, DO, Hickory, NC, an interventional physiatrist, has joined the medical staff at Frye Regional Medical Center.

1998

Gregory H. Busch, DO, Sewell, NJ, had his opinion regarding taxes published in the Editorial Section of the October 14, 2007 issue of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Brian D. Rosenthal, DO, Blue Bell, PA, was appointed to the board of directors of Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pennsylvania.

Michael K. Rosenthal, DO, Garnet Valley, PA, was recognized by Delaware Today Magazine as one of the "Top Doctors in Dermatological Surgery" in the state of Delaware.

1999

Thomas P. Birk, DO, Carthage, NY, joined the medical staff at the Beaver River Health Center, Beaver Falls, New York.

Jason S. Henderson, DO, Marlton, NJ, joined the medical staff at Maine General Medical Center.  He joins Mid-Maine Internal Medicine in North Vassalboro.  He is working as a hospitalist at the medical center's Augusta Campus and Thayer Campus, in Waterville.

Jodie L. Strauss, DO, Pittsburgh, PA, was a recipient of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Award for Commitment and Excellence in Service.  Fewer than one percent of UPMC's 45,000 employees earn this honor.  Dr. Strauss was the only DO to receive this award in 2007.

Kristen A. Berry, DO, Ardmore, PA, was a guest on the E. Steven Collins Show on WRNB Radio, 107.9 FM on January 27, 2008.  Dr. Berry spoke about staying healthy during cold and flu season.  She also answered listener's telephone calls.

Matthew Cook, DO, Havertown, PA, joined the emergency department at Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Chad E. Frank, DO, Hallandale Beach, FL, opened the Non-Surgical Center for Physical and Sports Medicine in Plantation, Florida. His solo practice offers comprehensive pain management treating all types of symptoms and sports injuries.

2001

Constance E. Gasda Andrejko, DO, Philadelphia, PA, and husband, Kenneth M. Andrejko, DO, Philadelphia, PA, are the proud parents of Gavin born on December 17, 2007.  Gavin joins his twin brothers, Mitchell and Nathan, age 2-1/2.

Christopher John Bellicini, DO, Pittsburgh, PA, joined Excela Health Orthopedics under a new affiliation, Excela Health Physical Practices.  He recently completed a fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in hip and knee surgery.

Lori Ann Chapleskie, DO, Mont Clare, PA, wrote an article which was published in the November 2007 issue of The American Journal of Surgery titled "The use of ductal lavage as a screening tool in women at high risk for developing breast carcinoma."

Louis C. Cimorelli, Jr., DO, Cherry Point, NC, was highlighted in an article which appeared in the Intelligencer titled "Helping cyclone victims." Dr. Cimorelli was aboard the amphibious assault ship "USS Kearsarge", treating a victim of the devastating cyclone in South Khali, Bangladesh.

Sean A. Connelly, DO, Moon Township, PA, will be completing his gastroenterology fellowship at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in June 2008 and will be joining the medical staff at Valley Gastroenterology Associates in Chippewa Township, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Connelly and his wife, Melissa, are the proud parents of two children, Regan Elizabeth born on April 2, 2007 and Riley Ann, age 3.

Brian A. DelVecchio, DO, Bloomsburg, PA, joined the medical staff at Geisinger Medical Center as a rheumatologist.

Emad G. Iskandar, DO, Mechanicsburg, PA, was appointed to the medical staff at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.  Dr. Iskandar is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and practices with Moffitt Heart and Vascular Group in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Sharee L. Livingston, DO, Lititz, PA, had her article published in the October 5, 2007 issue of Red Orbit titled "Sling provides confidence".

Christine P. Newman, DO, Southampton, PA, and her husband, Thomas L. Newman, DO '02 are the proud parents of Fiona Grace born on October 23, 2007.  Fiona joins her big brothers, Tommy, age 6, Timmy, age 31/2, and Benjamin, age 18 months.

2002

Brian A. Bast, DO, New York, NY, joined the medical staff of Norwalk Hospital and Coastal Orthopaedics PC in Norwalk, Connecticut.

David A. Masneri, DO, Belton, TX, co-authored an article published in the September 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association titled "Trauma-induced pneumothoraz after "bear-hug back crack" Remedy: Attempted spinal manipulation by a layperson."

Michael Anthony Caromano, PA-C, Absecon, NJ, is practicing at Medical One in Brigantine, New Jersey.  Michael is planning to be married to Nicole Novak of Brigantine, New Jersey in September 2009.

Luis R. Cortes, DO, Miami Beach, FL, opened a private practice in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Dr. Cortes was appointed assistant professor of medicine with the department of medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

Stacey Franz, DO, MSPT, Manalapan, NJ, is the recipient of the New York Weill Cornell Medical Center Alumni Council Award.  The award recognizes a member of the medical house staff from each department for "all around excellence."  Dr. Franz is the only resident, out of 24 in her program, to receive this prestigious honor.
