Sidney Simon, DO, Harrison, NY, joined Alfred I. Green, DO '50 and Aaron Kuptsow, DO '50 for a "mini reunion" on October 9, 2014 at a small restaurant not far from PCOM. All are veterans of World War II with varying military backgrounds-prisoner of war, bombarder and combat medic. They have been friends since 1945.


Milton I. Setnar, DO, New Albany, OH, retired from his internal medicine practice on January 1, 2014.




Donald R. Stoltz, DO, Philadelphia, PA, and his wife, Phyllis, were the guest speakers at the 23rd Annual Museum Tea at the Newark Museum in New Jersey. They presented “The Life and Work of Norman Rockwell and The Saturday Evening Post.”


Theodore P. Mauer, DO, Media, PA, professor and chairman of the otolaryngology/head and neck surgery/facial plastic surgery at PCOM, enjoyed a most momentous occasion on October 12, 2013. Approximately 20 of his former residents and their spouses surprised Dr. Mauer with a reception and dinner held at the Rose Tree Inn. Several of his retired colleagues also attended. Many of the attendees flew to Philadelphia from around the country. Having successfully trained many residents, Dr. Mauer experienced great pride in how successful they have become and a credit to PCOM. 


William J. King, DO, Deptford, NJ, was recently honored by Inspira Medical Center Woodbury for his many contributions to the hospital and community. Dr. King has been a member of the medical staff since 1968. He has served as a family practitioner, director of the family medicine residency, and chair of the department of family medicine.

Harvey M. Spector, DO, Huntingdon Valley, PA, was named to Castle Connolly's 2013 Top Doctors for family medicine in the middle atlantic region.


Joseph M. Hassman, DO, Cherry Hill, NJ, was featured in the articles "Paging Dr. Kringle: Your Chariot Awaits," published in the Philadelphia Daily News (December 24, 2014) and "Old Saint Mensch: Jewish Santa Gives Back," published in The Press of Atlantic City (December 26, 2014). Dr. Hassman dresses as Santa every year on Christmas morning and visits the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey.

P. Denis Kuehner, DO, Sanibel, FL, was featured on the cover of Times of the Islands. Dr. Kuehner was interviewed for an article “A Dose of Sincerity,” published in the magazine (August 1, 2014). The article highlights Dr. Kuehner's doctor-to-patient interaction and good old-fashioned practices.


Ronald Cowen, DO, Saint Davids, PA, has retired from family practice “after 47 wonderful years.”

Bernard F. Master, DO, Worthington, OH, was honored by the Ohio Osteopathic Association with the M. Bridget Wagner, DO Humanitarian Award. The award recognizes an osteopathic physician associated with the profession for acts of philanthropy and service to mankind.


Ronald R. Blanck, DO, Fenwick Island, DE, was appointed chairman of VetFed Resources, Inc., an integrated solutions provider with broad expertise in federal health programs and services. Dr. Blanck is one of the original founders of VetFed and has served as a director since 2008. He also served as keynote speaker at the black-tie dinner at Dover's Modern Maturity Center, held on November 7, 2014, to benefit the Delaware Veterans Trust fund. Dr. Blanck also delivered remarks at Gaithersburg, Maryland's annual Veterans Day observance on November 11, 2014. He began his military career in 1968 as medical officer and battalion surgeon in Vietnam and retired 32 years later as the Surgeon General of the United States Army and commander of the United States Army Medical Command. 

Sherman N. Leis, DO, Bala Cynwyd, PA, was honored by the Golden Slipper Club and Charities with the 2014 Gold Medallion Award. Dr. Leis also received the American Osteopathic Association Presidential Citation.

Miles G. Newman, DO, Elizabethtown, PA, has retired after 48 years of practicing family medicine.

Sheldon P. Wagman, DO, Scottsdale, AZ, was elected by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to the status of Distinguished Fellow of the APA. Distinguished Fellowship is awarded to outstanding psychiatrists who have made significant contributions to the psychiatric profession. It is the highest membership honor the APA bestows upon members. Dr. Wagman was the only DO selected and the only from the state of Arizona. 


L. George Hershey, DO, Flagstaff, AZ, closed his private practice after 44 and a half years. Dr. Hershey is now employed as medical director and a full time provider at the Native Americans for Community Action Family Health Center. He is also starting his 44th year as team physician for Northern Arizona University athletics.




Patrick J. McAndrew, DO, Pleasant Mount, PA, retired after 42 years of serving the Forest City area. Dr. McAndrew was honored with an event on December 4, 2014 sponsored by Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers.


Matthew F. Gutowicz, Jr., DO, La Quinta, CA, has retired from chief of radiology and nuclear medicine at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, OH after 36 years. Dr. Gutowicz has moved to La Quinta, CA where he is a partner in two restaurants. He has also gone back to work as a consultant for Desert Medical Imaging, a private radiology group serving the Coachella Valley.

Jeffrey C. Northup, DO, Show Low, AZ, joined the executive team at Knox Community Hospital as chief medical officer.


Robert C. Luderer, DO, Clarion, PA, was featured in the article "Long-time Clarion Oncologist has Helped Many Patients," published in The Cancer Center section of the Clarion News (October 28, 2014). Dr. Luderer has been the medical oncologist in charge of the Clarion Hospital Cancer Center since it opened in 2003.

Eric Eugene Shore, DO, Bala Cynwyd, PA, recently became a founding member of the Shore Legal Group, LLC where he practices health care law full time. The law firm was the recipient of the 2013 AVVO Client Choice Award.


Joseph W. Bell, Jr., DO, Salt Lake City, UT, joined the obstetrics and gynecology department at Mayo Clinic Health System.

Richard G. Tucker, DO, Mount Laurel, NJ, was named site coordinator for the Drexel University obstetrics and gynecology residency program at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ.


David V. Condoluci, DO, Moorestown, NJ, was featured in the article "Early Warrior Against AIDS Still Fighting the Good Fight," published in the Philadelphia Inquirer (December 5, 2014). Dr. Condoluci heads one of the region's go-to HIV practices. In 1989, he founded the annual HIV Medical Update conference, which held its 25th annual meeting on December 10, 2014, so that health-care professionals dealing with AIDS could network and share information.

Kenneth J. Veit, DO, MBA, Lafayette Hill, PA, appeared on WHYY's The Pulse to discuss the growth of osteopathic medicine (October 3, 2014).


Edward P. Balaban, DO, Wexford, PA, was appointed medical director of Cancer Care Partnership, a partnership of Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute and Mount Nittany Health, in State College, PA.

Warren M. Cohen, DO, Wynnewood, PA, was featured in the article "Dr. Cohen Comes Back," published in the Review (November 19, 2014). Dr. Cohen recently re-established his family practice at Jamestown Medical Building in Roxborough.

Robert B. Goldberg, DO, New York, NY, received the Dr. Stephen Levin Award from the International Workers' Compensation Foundation. The award recognizes a healthcare professional whose contributions significantly support the Workers' Compensation Board's goals of providing employees who are injured on the job with effective medical care, and covering lost wages until they can work again.

Robert C. Greer, IV, DO, Lake Park, FL, was named chief of staff at West Palm Hospital. Dr. Greer has served on numerous committees at the hospital and been on staff for over 30 years. He is a retired captain in the United States Naval Reserve and an associate clinical professor of family medicine at Nova Southeastern University.

Ronald L. Pope, DO, Lansdale, PA, was installed as a fellow of the American College of Neuropsychiatrists on October 26, 2014 at the American Osteopathic Association Annual Convention and Scientific Seminar in Seattle, Washington.


Fizul H. Bacchus, PhD, DO, Dover, DE, was named to Delaware Today's 2014 Top Doctors for pediatrics.

John J. McPhilemy, DO, Lafayette Hill, PA, appeared on WHYY's The Pulse to discuss the difference between traditional and quad-saving knee surgeries. (October 10, 2014).


Carol L. St. George, DO, York, PA, was re-elected a trustee-at-large during the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.

William A. Wewer, DO, Harrisburg, PA, was re-elected as secretary/treasurer during the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.




Peter J. Adler-Michaelson, DO, Bethel Park, PA, was a featured speaker for the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine's Leading Global Health Seminar series. Dr. Adler-Michaelson shared his broad range of experience in practicing with a uniquely osteopathic point of view.

Robert J. Aitken, DO, Haddonfield, NJ, was featured in the article "Dr. Bob Aitken Retraces Vietnam War Footsteps After 45 Years," published in the Retrospect (November 7, 2014). Dr. Aitken recently paid a visit to Vietnam, where he once served in military intelligence in the Army during the heated part of that conflict.

Stephen J. Eichert, DO, Dayton, OH, joined Cotton-O'Neil Clinic in Topeka, KS.

James N. Simon, DO, Villanova, PA, was elected medical staff president of Paoli Hospital-Mainline Health Medical Systems.

George L. Weber, DO, Philadelphia, PA, was elected a trustee-at-large during the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.



Reid Gentile, DO, Waverly, PA, joined the medical staff at Windber Medical Center.

B. Ellen Wesley, DO, Lake Forest, IL, completed her emergency medicine residency, and now is American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine certified.


Gary A. Aaronson, DO, New Hope, PA, was named to Philadelphia Magazine's 2014 Top Doctors for pulmonary medicine.

Susan Guttenplan Manella, DO, Weston, FL, became director of medical education and program director of family practice at Community Health of South Florida, Inc.-Teaching Health Center.

Wiley Sanford, DO, Nashville, TN, retired from Tennessee's Department of Health on Sept. 9, 2014, after 10 years of service. Dr. Sanford previously had a private practice near Reno, Nevada. 

Dyanne Westerberg, DO, Glen Mills, PA, had her articles “Acid Indigestion, or GERD, Untreated Can Lead To Other Health Problems” and “Tips To Prevent Poison Ivy For An Itch-Free Summer” published in the health section of Gloucester City News (May 29, 2014 and June 26, 2014). She also had her articles "Exercise Plan, Healthy Diet, Keys to Losing Weight," "Summer Time Brings Ticks that Cause Lyme Disease" and "Injuries from Activity may Require Medical Imaging" published in Gloucester City News (July 31, 2014, August 28, 2014 and October 30, 2014).


David Coffey, DO, Deatsville, AL, accepted a position as chair of osteopathic manipulative medicine with The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Auburn.

Richard A. Ortoski, DO, Erie, PA, was installed as vice president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society (POFPS) during the POFPS President's Installation Luncheon, on May 2, 2014.

Kathleen E. Sweeney, DO, Hollidaysburg, PA, was honored with the 2014 Affiliated Teacher of the Year award by PCOM.

Kurt Zimmer, DO, Van Buren, MO, joined Mercy Urgent Care-Smith Glynn Callaway in Springfield, MO.


James E. Sioma, DO, York, PA, was presented the 2014 Award for Primary Care Excellence-Patient Choice Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers. 


John M. Kauffman, Jr., DO, Buies Creek, NC, was named the 2014 Educator of the Year by the American Osteopathic Foundation. 

James S. McEvoy, DO, Powell, WY, has retired from radiology practice “after a very fulfilling career.” Dr. McEvoy now enjoys spending more time with his family and the community.

Philip David Orons, DO, Wexford, PA, was promoted to professor of radiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPMC) on July 1, 2014. Dr. Orons also received the UPMC Medical Recognition Award (November 2013) for outstanding service to UPMC Graduate Medical Education. 

Michael J. Zawisza, DO, Orwigsburg, PA, was installed as president-elect during the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.



Denay Marino, DO, Cape May, NJ, joined the multi-specialty group at Cape Regional Physicians Associates. Dr. Marino has been providing primary care services to the residents of Cape May County since 1988 and has been an active member of the medical staff at Cape Regional Medical Center since 1991.

Elliott Bilofsky, DO, Everett, PA, joined the staff at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Altoona in the department of specialized surgery's clinical service of otorhinolaryngology.

Thomas P. Brown, DO, Gulf Breeze, FL, was selected associate chief of staff of ambulatory care in the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System. The region spans across three states from Biloxi, MS to Panama City Beach, FL. The position oversees 60 physicians in five ambulatory clinics.

Anthony E. DiMarco, DO, Kennett Square, PA, was installed as vice president during the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.

Lisa J. Finkelstein, DO, Jackson, WY, was featured in the article "Funny Ads, Serious Doctor," published in the Jackson Hole News & Guide (October 15, 2014).

Dianna Hannigan Glessner, DO, Alpharetta, GA, was installed president of the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association on November 8, 2014. Dr. Glessner follows Thomas Bozzuto, DO '80 who served as president during 2013-2014.

Joan M. Grzybowski, DO, Conshohocken, PA, was re-elected a trustee-at-large during the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.

Robert S. Jones, DO, Mohnton, PA, was re-elected a trustee-at-large during the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.

Craig I. Schwartz, DO, Overland Park, KS, was awarded the prestigious Patients' Choice Award 2014 from leading patient review site Vitals.com.

Craig A. Sullivan, DO, York, PA, joined Well-Span Orthopedics as a surgeon.


Carman A. Ciervo, DO, Marlton, NJ, was recognized by the American Osteopathic Association as a “Guardian of the Profession” for demonstrating a strong sense of pride in the osteopathic medical profession and working actively to advance osteopathic medicine.

Marla DePolo Golden, DO, Jacksonville, FL, was hired as regional assistant dean and clinical associate professor at GA-PCOM and received an “Excellence in Education” award from the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine. Dr. Golden also self-published a book titled Neuroplastic Transformation.

Joseph Heck, DO, Henderson, NV, received the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physician's Bruce D. Horton Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes an osteopathic emergency physician who "made contributions to the College and/or emergency medicine through his or her actions, dedication and deeds over his or her career."

Brian A. Nester, DO, M.Sc., Center Valley, PA, was appointed president and chief executive officer of Lehigh Valley Health Network. 

John F. Pagnotto, DO, State College, PA, was named regional medical director for the Geisinger Medical Groups in Centre, Huntingdon, Clinton, Juniata and Mifflin counties.

Debra S. Weiss, DO, Boca Raton, FL, was appointed assistant professor of clinical biomedical science at Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine-Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Weiss works with first and second year medical students.

Edward J. Zaloga, DO, Moosic, PA, was 2013 president of the Lackawanna County Medical Society. Dr. Zaloga was honored by his peers with a reception at Scranton's Masonic Temple on March 22, 2014. Many of his family, friends, and colleagues were in attendance.


Kris M. Belland, DO, Pensacola, FL, was elected president-elect of the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) at the Annual Business Meeting during the 85th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Association. Dr. Belland will be the first DO to serve as AsMA president.

Robert H. Debbs, DO, Voorhees, NJ, was promoted to clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology and director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Network at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania.

Steven J. Halm, DO, Summerfield, NC, was recognized as a physician of distinction in the field of internal medicine by being selected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Halm is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Gregory McDonald, DO, Philadelphia, PA, had his article "What are Signs of Elder Abuse?," published in the health section of the Philadelphia Inquirer (September 14, 2014). Dr. McDonald also appeared in USA Today to discuss differing autopsies in the high-profile Michael Brown case and on Discovery.com to discuss the origins behind some of Hollywood’s most famous movie monsters.




Frank A. Filipetto, DO, Fort Worth, TX, was appointed associate dean of Academic Affairs at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine-University of North Texas Health Science Center.

David A. Forstein, DO, Greenville, SC, was elected to serve on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education's Board of Directors as a representative of the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Forstein's term begins January 1, 2015 and runs through September 2017.

Leslie Bondy Latterman, DO, Pittsburgh, PA, was featured on WomenYouShouldKnow.net in the article "Medical Breakthrough: Dr. Leslie Latterman Revolutionizes 100 Year Old Lab Coat Design to Better Suit Women Physicians." Dr. Latterman decided to make a lab coat for women. She began by creating a list, with the help of female residents, of what a modern women's lab coat should be like. After almost two years of development, Dr. Latterman has made their collective vision a reality. The "Dr. Leslie Designer Lab Coat" has also been featured in the Pittsburgh TribunePittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Whirl Magazine, as well as other newspapers outside of Pittsburgh.

Emil P. Lesho, DO, Silver Spring, MD, has been appointed as a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Andrew P. Pecora, DO, Marlton, NJ, was appointed medical director by Moorestown Visiting Nurse Association.

Brian A. Selius, DO, Fort Myers, FL, joined the professional staff of Lee Physician Group. Dr. Selius also provides training for resident physicians and medical students at the Florida State University College of Medicine family medicine residency program at Lee Memorial Health System.


Lisa F. Parviskhan, DO, Exton, PA, became certified by the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine.

Dominick J. Zampino, DO, Oceanville, NJ, was named medical director of academic affairs and program director for the internal medicine residency program at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.


Gene M. Battistella, DO, Moon Township, PA, was elected vice speaker of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association House of Delegates during POMA's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.

Gary J. Della'Zanna, DO, M.Sc., Woodbine, MD, was appointed by the Governor of Maryland and confirmed by the State Senate to be a member of Maryland's Board of Physicians in July 2013. Dr. Della’Zanna currently serves as a program director in the division of cancer prevention at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). His duties include designing and implementing Phase I, II and III clinical trials designed to evaluate cancer risk and response to investigational agents. Prior to joining the NCI, he was director of the division of scientific investigations at the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and served as a peer-reviewed senior scientific reviewer in the FDA’s division of gastrointestinal products. Dr. Della’Zanna also works part-time as a surgical hospitalist at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

Charles F. Gorey, DO, Pottstown, PA, had his article “Play it Smart: Sports Physicals Can Save Lives” published in the Mercury (April 9, 2014). 

Sarah P. Towne, DO, M.Sc., Bolivia, NC, was featured in the article "Sarah Towne, MedNorth’s Head Doctor, Talks Health Care," published in the health section of wilmaontheweb.com (December 2014). Dr. Towne is chief medical officer of MedNorth Health Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.


Clara Marie Higgins, DO, Lewes, DE, was named trauma medical director for Beebe Healthcare.

Paul W. Horchos, DO, Waverly, PA, earned his subspecialty board certification in brain injury medicine.

Joseph W. Stauffer, DO, Skillman, NJ, was appointed chief medical officer of Cara Therapeutics, Inc.

Scott W. Sterling, DO, Nesquehoning, PA, joined Berwick Hospital Center as a family medicine physician.


Kelly L. Abbrescia, DO, Wyoming, DE, was appointed medical director and chair of the emergency department at Kent General Hospital, a hospital within the Bayhealth Medical System of Delaware. Dr. Abbrescia also serves as the associate director of Emergency Medical Services for Kent County.

Robert S. Dolansky, Jr., MBA, DO, Breinigsville, PA, was inducted into the Northern Cambria Community Hall of Fame at their 4th annual Hall of Fame banquet held on October 18, 2014.

Brent M. Nickischer, DO, Bath, PA, joined the healthcare employees at Senior LIFE Lehigh Valley in Bethlehem.

Larry W. Spector, DO, North Wales, PA, was appointed medical director of Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park.


John B. Bulger, MBA, DO, Danville, PA, was installed as president-elect during the American College of Osteopathic Internists' Annual Meeting of Members.

Arthur J. DeMarsico, DO, Altoona, PA, received his continuous certification in vascular surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery through September 2024.

Dean J. DePerro, DO, Kent, OH, was elected coroner of Portage County, OH.

Jeffery J. Dunkelberger, DO, Lewisberry, PA, was elected speaker of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association House of Delegates during POMA's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.

W. Allen Fink, MS, DO, Tacoma, WA, accepted a position as physician executive-chief medical officer of the MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital.

Carolyn E. Miehle Ianieri, DO, Ambler, PA, was recognized as an Unsung Hero by the American Osteopathic Association, a designation given to “an osteopathic physician who has enhanced the image of osteopathic medicine by living each day as an example of what an osteopathic physician should be.”

Jill C. Snyder, DO, Sugarloaf, PA, celebrated the 11th anniversary of her private practice, A Woman's Place, on June 23, 2014.


David Kuo, DO, Blue Bell, PA, completed the Association of American Medical College’s Graduate Medical Education Leadership Development Course.

Douglas D. Stern, DO, New Enterprise, PA, joined the Penn Highlands Healthcare medical staff. Dr. Stern specializes in emergency medicine and practices in all of the system's emergency departments.

Tracy Vo, DO, Cape Coral, FL, joined Physicians’ Primary Care of Southwest Florida.

Brent E. Angott, DO, Washington, PA, joined the medical staff at Southwest Regional Medical Center in Waynesburg.

John N. Boll, Jr., DO, Williamsport, PA, served as a member of a medical service team representing the Williamsport family medicine residency program through the MAMA Project, Inc., in rural Honduras. The MAMA Project focuses on the educational, health and nutritional needs of Honduran children. During the two-week trip, the medical team served more than 1,000 patients.

Jonathan M. Gusdorff, DO, Bryn Mawr, PA, and his wife, Jaime, opened their fourth CareSTAT Urgent Care center, in Springfield.


Tabatha L. Jeffers, DO, Du Bois, PA, was named assistant medical director of Brookville Hospital's emergency department.

Aaron R. Weiss, DO, Falmouth, ME, was honored as the 2015 recipient of the Dr. Randy Siegel Pediatric Cancer Medical Humanitarian of the Year.




Keith A. Boell, DO, Danville, PA, was promoted to northcentral regional medical director at Geisinger Health Plan.

Christopher A. Davis, DO, Springfield, PA, was re-elected a trustee-at-large during the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association's 106th Annual Clinical Assembly.

Dolores R. Hoey, DO, Philadelphia, PA, joined the active medical staff at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, department of emergency.

Craig N. Czyz, DO, Columbus, OH, received two certifications not previously bestowed on any osteopathic residency trained and board certified ophthalmologist. In October, Dr. Czyz was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He becomes the first ophthalmic surgeon trained in an American Osteopathic Association (AOA) residency program and boarded by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology (AOBO) to achieve this distinction. In November, Dr. Czyz became the first AOA residency trained and AOBO boarded ophthalmologist to be granted membership into the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Marcin A. Jankowski, Jr, DO, Chester, PA, was named medical director of the trauma program at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, a state designated Level II trauma center that has served Delaware County for over twenty-five years.

Cory J. Keller, DO, Birdsboro, PA, was appointed assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine at Temple University School of Medicine and a sports medicine physician at Temple University Hospital.
