Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Georgia Campus - Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), in the greater Atlanta area, is seeking qualified individuals for a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to perform work in the maintenance and repair of the GA-PCOM facilities and buildings.  Assignments involve a variety of trades and skills, such as rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical and basic knowledge of HVAC systems.  A high degree of competence in several trades is expected with more than one at or above the acceptable skilled level.  Assignments are varied and are received in the form of oral or written work orders and may be accompanied by sketched, penciled layouts, or prints.  Employee must be able to work independently once assignment is given.  Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for determining appropriate work methods, tools, and materials for most assignments. Reports to the Assistant Director, Plant Operations.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent; additional specialized training in the Building Trades is desirable.  Certificate or specialized training in one of the main trades referenced above.  Five years of skilled experience performing duties involving a wide range of systems, components and relate equipment.  Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  A valid Georgia’s driver’s license and a safe driving record is required as well as the ability to maintain insurability.
