Our policies and procedures were developed to comply with those prepared by Educause and its members. Educause and its members -- institutions of higher education -- implement computing resource policies and procedures to comply with federal and state laws, terms of software licenses, and similar mandates and statutes.
If you use the computing and telecommunications systems of PCOM, whether on campus or off campus, you are responsible for adhering to these policies and procedures. You are responsible for ascertaining what authorizations, if any, are necessary before using PCOM computing resources, including those not explicitly identified in these policies. Any violation of these policies may result in revocation of access, suspension of accounts, disciplinary action or prosecution.
From time to time, these policies and procedures may be revised; please check these pages frequently to ensure your uninterrupted use of these privileges. We ask you to read these policies, sign the acknowledgement form, and comply with these policies. Most of our procedures involve the use of common sense:
-
Ask for help if you need it; you can reach us at x6110.
-
Do protect your access to these privileged resources with passwords, and don't share your passwords with anyone.
-
Be judicious with your use of e-mail; it's not as secure as you think.
-
Don't install any software on the PCOM network computers, and don't copy software from the PCOM network.
-
Complete and submit the appropriate signed form for those items requiring installation, service or purchase.
-
Allow sufficient time for us to process your request before you need to use it.
